The Powder Rooms is usually the only bathroom guests will use so I wanted it to be relaxed when they enter the bathroom and to feel pampered at the same time.
Keys on designing an inviting Powder room
Lighting: I am pretty picky with lighting because it can really affect the mood and is one of a few things you can change to achieve different effects even after the rest of the design is complete. I love dimmers and they’re great for the powder room. I added sconces and pot lighting so you can manage the lighting in more than one way.
Hardware: I used polished nickel faucets and crystal hardware to add some sparkle to the room! Both together add a high-end finish.
Mirror: I wanted to add a unique mirror as it adds a great focal point to the room. The shape and curves of the mirror suited the space perfectly and the dimensions worked too.
Vanity: We had a custom vanity made and extended the height to the vanity and put statuary marble countertops in for that extra luxe feel.
Wallpaper: I always wanted to add wallpaper in a powder room, my previous home never had any and with so many options I figured there had to be something that would work. I love it so much as it adds an element of surprise when you walk in. One of the keys to wallpaper is a quality install job so if you splurge on wallpaper don’t skimp on the install.
Millwork panelling: To break up the wallpaper I kept the panelling theme from elsewhere in the house, it also adds detail to the room.
Flooring: I love a herringbone pattern! It adds interest to the space. We also put heated flooring, it’s perfect for those colder months and guests love it too!
Built in ceiling speakers: This is so perfect when having a party. Keep the music flowing right into the bathroom! Guests can have a dance party even in the bathroom! I think it also helps visitors feel more relaxed as no one wants to be heard when they’re in the bathroom!
